Maintain a record of all the Achievements, Value additions and appreciations. Be specific and provide measurable results whenever possible. Focus on what you have achieved and how they’ve contributed to the success of the organization.

Highlight your potential.

Remember that the appraisal is not just limited to the review of last year. Its about how can your next year is going to be shaped like. Focus on your potential and how can you contribute to the organization in the upcoming periods.

Be open to feedback.

It is possible that the organization sees things in a different perspective than what you are seeing. Be open to adapt and align the perceptions. Keep yourself evaluating constantly and be prepared to change course midway to align expectations.

Effective negotiation

It is possible that there is some difference in the way you and your manager think about your performance. In these cases, try to explain clearly what was agreed and what was achieved. Use your preparation and focus on outcomes to make a strong case for your worth and value to the organization.
