How to Approach your contacts

These are the times of recession. One must try to rope in all the resources together for finding a new job. You may be the one unfortunate guy whose company could not weather the storm. Yes, I mean it. The loss of Jobs in the current scenario are not the fault of individual. It is the employer who could not sustain himself.

How to gt out of this messy situation even though you are not responsible. One may be your old pals.

It’s a good rule of thumb to keep in touch with your contacts. i.e. I always send all of my contacts greeting cards around the holidays just to say hello, let them know what I am up to, and to wish them well. It’s one day out of the year and really pays it forward.

This will be useful even if you are already in search. find all your contacts, old pals etc. It is always better to be polite and direct even if you are knocking him after longtime.

Try this : if You need to approach anyone about a professional request or favor, use a variant of: I am looking for a new job and was wondering if you were aware of any openings with your organization? Alternatively, if you know of information sessions coming up or can put me in touch with someone who can help me, I would appreciate that too. I would be grateful for any help you can provide.

Another interesting Way i found in one of the blogs. I am adding it here. This may look too odd to you, but this may give you good result for you. It may be that you need to modify to your requirements. This is again is in checking all contacts. You may decide to send individually or a mass mail.

Send an email through friends and family – a brief, polite, upbeat, unassuming message such as:
Hi. I apologize for the mass email, and hope we can talk individually soon. The nature of this email is to let you know what I’m up to, and enlist any help you may be able to offer in my quest to join the ranks of the employed. Last May, I graduated from XXXX university with a degree in Electrical Engineering. , I’m sending out resumes. Right now I am simply looking to get my foot in the door and get some experience! If you know of anyone who works in this field, I am looking to set up some informational interviews and learn more about area companies and their opportunities. Companies of particular interest are xxx, yyyyy, zzzz, but am interested to talk to anyone! Any help appreciated by me, the potential wage earner, and my parents who had hoped my room would be their new gym by this point. Hope you are doing well!

Try this.
